Longberry Grade 2
Screen 17–18, 4–12 defects. Strong fruit character at a competitive FOB tier for blends.
Shortberry Grade 1

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Harrar coffee grown?
Harrar (also spelled Harar) coffee is grown in the East Hararghe and West Hararghe zones of eastern Ethiopia, at altitudes of 1,500–2,100 meters. The region's semi-arid climate produces exclusively natural-processed coffees.
What does Harrar coffee taste like?
Harrar is famous for its wild, fruit-forward natural profile: blueberry, dark chocolate, red wine, and a heavy syrupy body. It is one of the world's original natural coffees and the archetype for Mocha-style cup character.
What SCA cupping score does Harrar achieve?
Specialty Harrar lots cup 84–88 SCA. Longberry Grade 1 (Type A) is the top export tier, with FOB pricing typically USD 3.20–4.50/lb depending on harvest year and screen size.
What is the difference between Longberry and Shortberry Harrar?
Longberry refers to larger bean sizes (screen 17–18) and is graded as the premium Harrar export. Shortberry covers smaller screens (14–15) and trades at a lower price point but retains the classic blueberry-cocoa profile.
When is Harrar coffee harvested?
Harrar harvest runs October through February, later than the southern regions. Sun-drying on raised beds takes 3–4 weeks, and shipments typically begin in April with availability through July.
Why is Harrar coffee called Mocha?
Harrar was historically exported through the Yemeni port of Mocha, giving rise to the global term 'Mocha coffee.' Today, true Ethiopian Harrar remains the closest cup expression to that original Mocha style — fruity, winey naturals with cocoa depth.
